The Leschetizky Music Society was founded to promote music as an important sphere of human existence, according with the Patron's motto: 'No life without art, no art without life'.

Society's Goals, Forms and Means of Operation

§ 8

The main purpose of Leschetizky Music Society is to cultivate the ideals of art and work of the remarkable teacher, pianist and composer of Polish origin, Theodor Leschetizky.

§ 9

The Society shall achieve its goals by:

  • organizing concerts, festivals, competitions, symposia, lectures as well as other artistic and educational events;
  • organizing workshops, courses and other forms of musical education;
  • organizing and artistic supervision over musical groups;
  • dissemination and popularization the Theodor Leschetizky’s musical output;
  • promotion of the production of unknown and forgotten composers;
  • cooperation with outstanding performers, teachers, musicologists, music theoreticians and scientists representing many spheres of art and science;
  • undertaking all-round activities to integrate different fields of art and science;
  • undertaking scientific, artistic, research and educational activities;
  • collecting documentary and archival materials;
  • cooperation with domestic, foreign and international music organizations as well as other organizations from the field of culture, art and science;
  • supporting any activities aimed at founding the T. Leschetizky European Music Center;
  • management of the library, sound library, video library and archive collections and making them available to public;
  • publishing activity (music scores, CD, DVD, books, journals) and information activity (including the provision of extensive information about the Society’s operation through any available media);
  • granting scholarships and special awards.
  • Members, their Rights and Responsibilities

    § 11

    1. The membership includes ordinary, honorary and supporting members.
    2. A legal person could be only a supporting member of the Society.

    § 12

    1. Members of the Society could be Polish citizens or foreigners who want to work actively for the Society's goals
    2.Ordinary and supporting members can be enrolled in the Society by the Society's Board after they have submitted a written application accompanied by a recommendation of at least two ordinary Members of the Society, including one Member of the Board.
    3. A new member shall pay a full annual membership fee, as per the rules defined by the Board, within the period of three weeks after the date of being admitted to the Society.

    § 13

    An ordinary member has the following rights:
    1. active and passive voting right to be selected to the Society's authorities;
    2. participating in General Meetings of the Society's Members;
    3. participating in the work and organizational activities of the Society;
    4. access to the materials collected by the Society.

    § 14

    Each Member of the Society shall be liable for:
    1. participating in the work and realization of the Society's goals;
    2. obeying the Statute, rules and resolutions of the Society's Board;
    3. passing information on to the Society's Board about any initiatives taken by him/her which serve the purpose of the Society;
    4. paying the membership fee on a regular basis.

    § 15

    1. A person who is particularly distinguished for the music culture or the Society can become a honorary member.
    2. Honorary membership shall be conferred by the General Meeting of the Society's Members at the request the Board.
    3. A honorary member shall have all the rights of an ordinary member, with the exception of the passive voting right. Moreover, a honorary member shall be released from having to pay the membership fee.

    § 16

    1. A legal person or natural person can become a supporting member of the Society.
    2. The status of a supporting member is granted by the Society's Board, based on a written declaration of the candidate.
    3. A supporting member shall have his/her right to participate in the Society's work with an consultative voice and the access to the materials collected by the Society. Furthermore, he/she shall be liable for the payment of a membership fee, at least at the minimal amount fixed by General Meeting of the Society's Members.

    § 17

    The Society's membership shall cease in case:
    1. a Member submits his/her voluntary written resignation;
    2. a Member is crossed off by the Board due to his/her failure to pay the membership fee, for the period of at least twelve months;
    3. a Member is crossed off by the Board because of his/her working to the Society's disadvantage.

    § 18

    A person who is crossed off the list of members of the Society shall be entitled to lodge, within thirty days of receipt of the crossing-off notice, an appeal to the Members of the General Meeting, the resolution of which, concerning this matter, shall be considered final.
